Travel Tips for Madagascar

Commonly, the dry months in Madagascar are between April and October. Madagascar encompasses different climatic zones and the best time for a holiday in Madagascar depends on the exact travel location. The whale watching off Ile Ste Marie is usually best between July and September. The temperature is comfortable all year round except between the summer months Dec-Feb when humidity is very high - the cyclonic period brings with it strong winds and daily showers. The average daily water temperature is 25°C.

The infrastructure in Madagascar is limited and therefore one cannot travel very fast on the roads.

Madagascar is a malaria area and therefore travellers should minimize mosquito bites by wearing light, long sleeved clothing and using effective insect repellents on the exposed skin.

Nosy Iranja is a beautiful small island hideaway situated off the north west coast of Madagascar. The northern (bigger) island, Nosy Iranja Be, is home to a delightful lighthouse designed by Gustav Eiffel and a small village, inhabited by the local fishermen.
