Travel Tips for Madagascar

Commonly, the dry months in Madagascar are between April and October. Madagascar encompasses different climatic zones and the best time for a holiday in Madagascar depends on the exact travel location. The whale watching off Ile Ste Marie is usually best between July and September. The temperature is comfortable all year round except between the summer months Dec-Feb when humidity is very high - the cyclonic period brings with it strong winds and daily showers. The average daily water temperature is 25C.

The infrastructure in Madagascar is limited and therefore one cannot travel very fast on the roads.

Madagascar is a malaria area and therefore travellers should minimize mosquito bites by wearing light, long sleeved clothing and using effective insect repellents on the exposed skin.

Located on Madagascar's premier resort island Nosy B off the north west coast, translated 'perfumed island' due to its abundance of Ylang Ylang blossom scent, one can find the luxurious Nosy Iranja Beach Resort. Sandy beaches, an azure ocean, natural coral reefs with exotic fish, breathtaking sunsets combined with exclusive accommodation and gourmet meals make a stay here unforgettable.

Guests are invited to enjoy the resort's special cuisine with its delicate tropical flavours, to watch the sun set whilst sipping an exotic cocktail after a leisure-filled day spent scuba-diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, sailing, fishing or simply relaxing in the warm sun.

Madagascar is home to a wide variety of animal and plant species, many of which are indigenous to the island. The natural history of Madagascar is rich and the landscapes vary greatly, from the arid, semi-desert regions to the beaches, which are fringed by rainforests and paddy fields.
